Add the Saxon processor to MBS Plugins?

Hello, For years we had XLST 1.0 and XQuery in the plugins using open source libraries. We could add the Saxon processor library for XLST, XQuery and XML Schema functionality. But that library has a cost as a commercial library, so making a plugin would only work if we have enough people taking it. We are collecting a list of developers interested in this to know whether it is feasible to do this. We could have: • XSLT 3.0 Processor Saxon Professional supports the latest version of XSLT (3.0) for transforming XML documents into various formats (HTML, text, other XML formats). It supports full XPath 3.1 and XQuery 3.1 standards. • XPath 3.1 Support XPath is a language for navigating through elements and attributes in an XML document. Saxon Professional provides comprehensive support for XPath 3.1, allowing complex expressions for querying and filtering XML data. • XQuery 3.1 Support XQuery is used for querying XML data. Saxon Professional Edition supports XQuery 3.1, which is highly flexible and useful for querying both XML and non-XML data sources. • Streaming for XSLT 3.0 Streaming allows Saxon to process large XML files that do not fit into memory by reading the document sequentially. This is essential for dealing with very large documents efficiently. • Schema-Aware XSLT and XQuery Saxon Professional Edition is schema-aware, meaning it can process and validate XML documents against XML Schema definitions. This ensures data integrity and adherence to data structures during transformation or query. • EXSLT Support Saxon includes support for EXSLT, which is a set of extensions to XSLT. These extensions provide additional functions for working with strings, dates, numbers, and more. • JSON Processing In addition to XML, Saxon/C++ can process JSON documents. It can convert JSON to XML for XSLT processing or use XPath/XQuery directly on JSON data, making it versatile for different data formats. • Serialization Features It provides advanced serialization options, including support for JSON output, binary data formats, and text formats, making it versatile for different kinds of output requirements. We got a prototype working and now look for interested Xojo developers interested in this functionality. Let us know whether you are interested. We will probably make it an add-on to our plugins to pay an extra licensing fee. Then we would add Saxon features to our plugin over time. Nickenich, Germany - (September 17th, 2024) -- Monkeybread Software today is pleased to announce MBS Xojo Plugins 24.4 for macOS, Linux and Windows, the latest update to their product that is easily the most powerful plugin collection currently available for Xojo. MBS Xojo Plugins have been updated and now includes over 3000 classes and 82,000 documented features, and the versatile plugins have gained more new functions: Use the ZxingBarcodeMBS module with the functions there to read barcodes from images. We support 18 different types of barcodes including EAN, UPC and QRCodes. We improved our Linux support by using newer compilers for all 4 Linux targets: 32- and 64-bit on ARM or x86 architecture. This enables 32-bit Linux support for newer parts of our plugins. You can use JSONMBS class, Phidget classes, LibUSBTransferMBS class and XL classes there. Use Handoff to continue tasks on your other devices with macOS or iOS. The NSUserActivityMBS class helps you to implement this in your Xojo project and pass the current state from one device to the other device. If you use CURL to retrieve emails from your IMAP server, please use the DecodeIMAPFolderName function to decode folder names from UTF-7 encoding. You can specify not just the minimum required TLS version, but also the maximum and we have new constants for these. We improved CURLSMultiMBS class to let you better reuse CURL objects. Showing a statusitem in the Mac menubar can be done with our NSStatusItemMBS class. Use the new DidMove and DidResize events to notice if the statusitem moved. The DidChangeOcclusionState event tells you if the statusitem got hidden when the screen resolution is too low to show all statusitems. With DynaPDF you can query the encryption state of the file with the GetInEncryptionInfo function and the DynaPDFEncryptInfoMBS class. The TestPassword function and verify whether a password is correct. We improved the MongoDB classes with better trace logging. The MongoCursorMBS class can now provide all records as one big JSON string. The TidyDocumentMBS class got a Tidy() function to make the usage easier and tidy up XML and HTML with a function call. You can list all option names with the OptionNames function. The NetSNMPMBS class got new properties for SNMPv3 support, the NSViewMBS class got a hitTest() function to find a view in the hierachie based on screen coordinates and in SceneKit you can specify shader modifiers with new properties in SCNMaterialMBS and SCNGeometryMBS classes. Finally we updated CURL to version 8.10.0, DynaPDF to 4.0.92.261, LibXL to 4.4.0, openssl to 3.1.6, SQLAPI to 5.3.4 with DuckDB 1.0 support, SQLite to 3.46.1 and Tidy library to version 5.8. Deprecation of TLS 1.0 and 1.1

Hello, Anyone still needs TLS 1.0 and 1.1 when working with MBS Plugins? OpenSSL plans to disable them by default. We should do the same. Everyone moved to TLS 1.2 and 1.3 as far as we know, so nobody should need the older one. The version 1.2 was published in 2008 and most browser already removed support for the older ones. The older versions had weak ciphers and digest algorithms which shouldn't be used anymore. It's too easy to attack such connections and be the man in the middle, who could decipher the content. Let us know if you still need older versions. Otherwise they will get disabled in future plugins, probably next year. MBS Xojo Plugins have been updated and now includes over 3000 classes and 82,000 documented features, and the versatile plugins have gained more new functions: Use Python scripts in your Xojo application. Our new PythonMBS class can load a local Python library and evaluate expressions or run scripts. Get and set variables in Python to exchange data in memory. The Python code can optionally call back to Xojo code with custom functions. We improved NSLocaleMBS class for macOS and iOS to provide more information with properties. Use localizedString functions to get localized names for these identifiers and use the DidChange notification with NSNotificationObserverMBS class to get a callback if locale changes. In DynaPDF you can now keep annotations from flattening if DynaPDF doesn't recognize them. The FindText method in DynaPDFParserMBS class can now skip sorting with the new SearchAsIs flag. You can enable an image cache for DynaPDF and change line annotation's coordinates. Our CURL plugin got enhanced to better handle MQTT connections. We got a new example to show you how to do MQTT connections. The debug log for CURL connections shows the URL for the request for helping you to debug the scripts. For Windows we added WindowsDeviceWatcherMBS class to watch for devices connecting. The WindowsDeviceInformationMBS class provides details. This helps with our BLE classes for Windows to better find devices. The low level compression classes for bzip and zlib (ZLibDecompressMBS, ZLibCompressMBS, BZip2DecompressMBS and BZip2CompressMBS classes) got new constructors to take output buffer as ptr and buffer size as integer, so you can use them with MemoryBlocks. The SetInput methods now take ptr, too. The new UIDeviceMBS class provides details about the iOS device. Query orientation, system version, model and orientation. The XMLValidatorMBS class can now convert XML to canonical format. The isValidJSON function in JSONMBS class can validate whether some text is valid JSON. Use the new DarwinHostVMStatisticsMBS class to query memory statistics for virtual memory on macOS and iOS. Use the Duplex property with NSPrintInfoMBS class to switch duplex on or off. And check the isSequoia function in SystemInformationMBS module to detect the next macOS version. Finally we updated CubeSQL library to version 5.9, CURL to 8.8.0, DynaPDF to 4.0.89.256, the plugin SDK for Xojo 2024r2, SQLAPI to 5.3.2, SQLite to 3.46.0 and updated to Xcode to version 15.4.
